Site of the original family home of William James Sr. & Elizabeth Coyan (my 3rd great-grandparents) on land bought in very rural northeast Wapello County, Iowa in May, 1863 after they had left Jackson, Ohio. If my ggg-grandparents were trying to get as far away from the Civil War as possible (which I strongly suspect) they certainly succeeded. I had to dig up old maps at the county courthouse to find the place! It is located 20 miles northeast of the county seat of Ottumwa in "farm country".
